We are becoming regulars at Tye Lake. I have probably blogged about it 5 or 6 times this summer but we love it! I have talked about all of it's positive assets in previous blogs so I will not bore you with those details again. Sunday after church it was HOT! We were trying to decide how we wanted to spend the afternoon and I suggested that (shocking) we head out to the lake. Terence can go and do a little fishing and I can swim with the boys. For as hot as it was and for it being a Sunday afternoon it was not very crowded. I set up a couple of chairs on the beach threw some life jackets on the boys and they were off. Our boys have these squirt guns that you pull up and the fill up and then you push on them and they squirt. They played with them for almost four hours. The lake was nice and warm and when it got too hot I would just move my lawn chair right down into the water and sit there with the boys playing around me. I thought I was pretty clever. After two solid days in the sun I was very proud that no one in my family had a sunburn! I did get a couple of burned spots on my knees and one on my arm just because of the angle I was sitting in the sun but that's not too bad.
Terence spent his time fishing and ended up catching 8 fish ranging in size from 6 inches to 12 inches. It was a very relaxing Sunday afternoon for all of us and it was way better then spending time cooped up in a hot house all afternoon. Plus the kids were exhausted after we got home and slept great that night. Anything that makes my kids sleep better is a fantastic activity in my book!
This is Terence fishing WAY off in the distance. I could spot him because he was wearing his orange Holland shirt.
Connor enjoying and afternoon snack. You can see the squirt gun behind him.
Connor is fearless in the water and will swim any chance he gets! He is so my child!
