Lets go Fly a Kite!

Yesterday my parents got our boys a kite for an Easter present.  It was a Buzz Lighyear kite and Corey COULD NOT wait to fly it.  He finally found a sucker someone nice enough to take him outside and fly it with him.  My Uncle Ady helped put it together and out they went.  I remember doing all kinds of fun stuff with my Uncle Ady when I was a kid so it brought back some fun memories watching him with Corey.  The kite only flew for about 5 minutes because there was just not enough wind but I am sure we will get a lot of use out of it this summer.

His Sacred Name - An Easter Declaration

As tomorrow is Easter I thought it would be appropriate to reflect on the Resurrection of our Savior! I am so very thankful that I know that we will live again and return to live with our Father in heaven. The simple peace that this knowledge brings helps me get through the hard parts of life and enjoy the sweet parts a little more. It puts everything into perspective. I know that my Redeemer lives! I know he suffered and died for the world's sins so that one day we may all live again in peace and happiness.

“In our hour of deepest sorrow, we can receive profound peace from the words of the angel that first Easter morning: ‘He is not here: for he is risen.’”

Halo with Daddy

Today Terence had some achievements to do in Halo and decided to sign my profile and let Connor play along.  Connor had a blast!  I think he really just enjoyed doing something alone with Daddy (Corey was asleep on the couch).  Terence played a game of matchmaking with Connor and they actually ended up winning.  Connor really just spent most of the time stuck in a corner spinning around looking at the sky, but he had so much fun!  It was really cute.

Picnic in the Park

This afternoon we met up with Jared and Emily and Brian at Al Bourlin park in Monroe for a picnic.  We grilled burgers and hot dogs, let the kids run around and ENJOYED the beautiful sunshine.  Oh how I have missed sunshine!  After lunch we walked down to explore the river.  Jared and Emily had scoped out a great place to stand and throw rocks which is right up my boys alley!  It was an absolutely perfect way to spend the afternoon!  I am so looking forward to summer when we can do it more often.  By the way, I know I used a lot of exclamation points in this post, I did that on purpose.

I LOVE this picture

I love this guy!

Sultan Egg Hunt

After our ward Easter Egg hunt we decided that we hadn't had enough egg hunting yet so we headed into Sultan for theirs.  We were early and it was kind of torture for the kids to sit there and look at the eggs all over the grass and not be able to touch them.  We tried to keep them entertained but were not doing a very good job.  I was there with our friends the Dunbars and Gillespies and between the three families we had seven kids to wrangle.  It's fun in Sultan they have the fire department kick off the hunt by blowing the horn on the engine.  Once that horn blew the kids were off but there were so many kids that our boys only picked up a couple of eggs.  I doesn't matter though, they still had fun!

Some of the kids

trying to get a picture of Josh and Felicia, we got photo bombed.  We do not know this person in the background.

Josh giving the boys instructions on what to do when the horn blew.

Ward Easter Egg Hunt

This morning we went to our wards Easter egg hunt.  The boys loved it!  Connor was all over it this year and took off like a flash to gather eggs.  Corey was a little more timid and ended up staying closer to us.  Terence and I were talking today and we feel so blessed to be in such an amazing ward and have such amazing friends!

Corey and the Hat

Last night at bedtime Corey found one of Terence's beanie hats and decided to wear it.  I know Grammy and Grandma won't like the hat but will appreciate how cute Corey looks in the picture.  By the way Grammy, our boys sleep with their quilts you made them every night!  They love them!

Bedtime boys!

Last night after their bath I took some pictures of my boys.  I love the way my guys look in their footy pajamas with their soft skin and clean faces!  They are so much fun!  By the way, Corey's hair is spiky because I tried to put a hair tie in it to show him how long it is.  He took it out before I could get the picture.

Hair

I'm growing my hair out. Normally by now I would have chopped it and started over a couple of times.  It's starting to get to a good length now.  I like it!  Please excuse the no make up face, this was right before bed.

Don't Leave Home Without It!

This morning I was doing awesome I had gotten the kids ready and out the door much earlier than normal and I was feeling pretty good about it.  When I started my car I realized that I needed gas.  I pulled into the gas station in Sultan and much to my chagrin realized I had forgotten my wallet at work yesterday.  My gas light was not on yet so I thought maybe, just maybe I could make it to work to get my wallet and fill up before I ran out of gas.  I got outside of Monroe and my gas light went on.  Crap.  I was not going to make it to work, I was too far from home to turn back so I kept driving.  I looked in my purse again and found a check book.  At a gas station in Duvall I ran in and asked if they took checks.  No.  Crap!  I drove over to the Safeway and asked the (very nice) checker if I could right a check for 20 over to buy some gas.  She said of course so I bought the boys each a donut for 50 cents.  I was finally able to get some cash and put some gas in my car.  What a crazy morning!  Any extra time I had by getting out the door early was eaten up by my gas fiasco.  I guess you could look at it as a tender mercy though.  If I had not been out the door early I would have been really late to work.

My Man!

I'm so proud of Terence!  He has been doing awesome at work and today we found out he is going to be getting a pretty sweet little bonus in his next paycheck.  Kind of exciting!  I have said it a million times before but I will say it again.  I'm really proud of him.  He works so hard for our family and I could not ask for a better husband, Father and provider for our family!

How much can change in a year

Today when I was thinking what I would blog about I decided to look back at the blog I wrote a year ago today.  You can find it here.  When I wrote this Terence was waiting to hear back about a job he had interviewed for and had been waiting a couple of weeks for a decision.  At the time we thought this would be the best job for him and our family.  It paid well, had good benefits and he really liked the company.  At the end of the post I mentioned that I had faith that the right job for him and our family would come along.  We were right.  Terence has been in his job now for 9 months and LOVES it!  He truthfully enjoys going to work everyday.  It has been one of the best things to happen to us and we both feel very blessed.

Not Corey's Day

Poor Corey had kind of a rough day today.  He had a dentist appointment today and was supposed to get a filling done on one of his molars.  He was fine until they tried to put the nitrous mask on him at which point he freaked out and a screamed for about five minutes.  The tech held the mask over his face while he was screaming so inevitably he inhaled enough of the gas to calm down.  They put Cars on for him and he watched that while he breathed the gas and calmed down for a bit.  The dentist was able to come in and give him the numbing injections which he did fine with.  The part that freaked him out was when they tried to prop his mouth open with one of their little mouth proper things (I don't know what they are called).  He hated that!  He started screaming and crying and flailing like a crazy person.  The dentist tried about three times to get the dam on his tooth but he just would not hold still long enough to do it.  By this time he was so hysterical we decided we should probably call it a day and try again another time.  I picked Corey up and tried to cuddle him to calm him down a little bit but since he was numb he ended up biting the crud out of his cheek to the point that he was drooling/bleeding all over me.  We got some gauze to put in his mouth to keep him from biting his cheek again until he was no longer numb.  I asked about taking him back to school and the dentist advised against it because his mouth was going to be pretty sore once he got feeling back.  So I went and got Connor from school and we spent the afternoon at home.  Corey actually slept most of the way home in the car which was nice because I did not worry about him chewing his cheek while he was asleep.

By this evening he seemed to be feeling much better and ate a ton of dinner!  When Terence got home he and the boys were wrestling, Terence picked Corey up to throw him onto the couch.  The cushion on the couch had moved just enough that Corey hit his head on the back of the couch and got a nice goose egg.  At that point we decided it might be a good idea to call it a night.  We took the boys upstairs gave them a bath and then I let them watch Survivor with me.  Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for my little guy.

We got the boys school pictures back today.  They turned out so cute!  I have such a hard time getting good pictures of my boys and I am thrilled with these!  Here are just a couple of them.

a little bit of everything...

ever since I started writing a blog I compartmentalize my day by what would make a good blog post and what would not.  Today I just have lots of random thoughts so it's a this and that post!  Yay for you!
  • today was a weird day
  • it was sunny most of the day which was nice
  • I talked to my sister at least three times today
  • I talked to my mom twice
  • I talked to Terence a lot
  • we had chicken fajitas for dinner
  • they turned out really well
  • Terence is yelling at his halo game to hurry up, he's annoyed at the cut screen
  • for bedtime tonight we read Molly and the Storm, Green Eggs and Ham, The Pale Green Pants and The Sneeches
  • we are partial to Dr. Seuss
  • My boss is in China right now
  • I had a lot of meetings on my calendar to start out the day but most of them got cancelled
  • Corey got in trouble at school today for scratching another boy
  • On Friday he got in trouble for spitting
  • I'm excited for spring
  • I'm not excited for the allergies
  • Terence is working his butt off right now to lose weight and doing an awesome job at it!
  • He has been really good about watching his calories
  • I'm trying but not doing as well as him
  • Looks like some things are going to change at work for me (AGAIN) in the next couple of months
  • should be interesting
  • if there is one thing I have learned about working at Microsoft it's that things change quickly
  • I could have gone to a Mariners game tonight
  • I decided not to
  • I had a TERRIBLE head ache today
  • not even medicine helped
  • I probably should go to bed early tonight, maybe that will help
  • a big Diet Coke from McDonald's would probably help too

Date Night

My Mom sent me a message on Facebook the other day saying how much she missed our kids.  Joking around both Terence and I told her that if she wanted to see them she would have to keep them overnight.  Much to our surprise she agreed!  T and I got kind of an impromptu date night.  It was so fun and SO nice to spend some time just the two of us, we don't get to do that very often.  We went over to Lincoln Square and grabbed a light dinner and saw a movie.  We saw Source Code which if you liked Inception you would like this.  I really liked it and so did T.  After the movie we went home and just hung out, watched some TV, relaxed.  Plus with no kids to wake us up we slept GREAT last night.  I love date nights with Terence.  We are already planning out date for next week.  We are going to get all the stuff for and plant an herb garden.  I think we are going to ask Grammy and Pop to babysit for that one :).

Why?

The reason I hate the ad mentioned below is this.  This man is obviously working very hard/late on something important.  You can tell that he is under a lot of pressure to get whatever that is done.  Then his wife calls all aloof and starts asking him about making reservations???  Are you kidding me?  I don't know about you but in my house if Terence was under that much pressure at work A. I would know about it.  B. We would probably wait to celebrate our anniversary until his project was done and C. I sure as heck would not expect him to be the one making the reservation.  Maybe it's annoying to me because I work full time so I understand how hard it is to be busy and juggle everything and I empathize more with the guy in this commercial.  I'm probably over analyzing and have spent way too much time thinking about it.  What can I say?

I hate this Ad

See if you can guess why...

I did it!

Finally after saying it, committing to it, ignoring it, hoping it would go away, I finally did it!  I went to the gym today.  I honestly cannot remember when the last time I was in a gym.  Needless to say, it's been a while.  I didn't do anything crazy just walked/ran on the treadmill for 45 minutes but the fact of the matter is I walked.  I knew I would feel great/relieved after I went for the first time and I am actually looking forward to going tomorrow.  My goal is 30lbs in three months.  Lofty?  Probably but I have done it before, I can do it again.

Rain

I'm sick of the rain!  Period.  Seriously.  I'm not normally bothered by the Washington weather as I have lived here long enough to be used to it but the last couple of weeks have been horrible.  Rain, more rain, flooding, hail, more rain.  Enough already!  It's enough to make a girl crazy.  I'm ready for the sun to come out and warm everything up and chase the rain away.  Please Mr. Sun come back.  I don't know what we did to offend you but if you come back I promise to appreciate you more.  Alright, I'm done ranting.

Beat Box Connor

I love my kids to death but sometimes...they make me CRAZY.  Connor has been doing this beat boxing, motor boat, absent minded noises thing with his mouth.  It drives me nuts.  I don't even think he realizes he's doing it.  I think I asked him at least a hundred times today to please stop but since he did not realize he was even doing it he would do it again two minutes later.  I keep reminding myself that they will only be little for such a short time and that I should really enjoy these moments.  As I sit here typing this I feel guilty that it annoyed me so much.  I love my boys so much!  I feel so blessed to have them, they really are awesome kids.  Tomorrow I will try to nit pick less and enjoy a little more.

Newest member of the Keenan Family

This is Sandy!  Terence and I are picking her up from the breeder this weekend.  We are getting her from some people down just south of Tacoma.  I found her through my classified website here at work.  She is an 11 week old golden retreiver puppy and we could not be more excited to welcome her to our family!
