I did a TRIATHLON! For those who do not know what that is it was a quarter mile swim, a 14 mile bike ride and a 3.11 mile run I cannot believe I am even typing those words. I can honestly say that is was probably one of the top ten best moments of my entire life crossing that finish line. I had trained for it with a couple of my friends from my ward and I went through stages of feeling ready for it and then panic when I would not feel ready. The day of the triathlon arrived and I knew there was no backing out. So I just prepared myself the best I could, set up my transition station and got ready to go. The race was delayed a little while because of fog so we had extra time to stand on the beach and think about it. I was super nervous! Once they started our race I realized that I had trained for this and I knew what I was doing. The swim was the easiest are for me and I did it fairly quickly. Once out of the water you run over to your transition station get your socks and shoes on, put on your helmet and head out for the 14 mile ride. My ride went great and I feel like I had a pretty good time on that. Our ride was 14 mile out and back on Monroe/Snohomish road. We basically rode out a little past Craven farms and came back. After the ride you come back in, take of your helmet, rack your bike and head out on your run. I knew my run was not going to be great since I am not a great runner. I struggled! A lot! But I managed to do it in about 45 minutes. My time at the end of everything was 2 hours one minute. It kills me because if I had just run a little bit more I would have been under two hours! I still feel fantastic about it! I crossed the finish line with a women from my ward and they announced us coming in together. I broke down in tears. I don't know if it the adrenalin or the feeling of accomplishment but it was emotional! Terence was there with the kids cheering me on a long with two of my best friends (one of whom did the race with me but smoked me in the run). I will absolutely do it again! I cannot wait!
