Feeling better

Corey has been sick the last few days.  He was running a fever between 100 and 102 for about three days.  Tylenol helped but did not eliminate the fever all together.  On top of that he was kind of lethargic and developed a nasty cough.  I am happy to report that he is finally starting to feel better.  He went to daycare today and stayed the entire day, plus he is sleeping better at night.  I hate it when my kids get sick but I am so grateful that it was nothing serious and he is feeling better!

Bubbles

Yesterday I told Corey that if he was good while we were shopping I would get him some bubbles.  Not just any bubbles though, the special kind of bubbles that don't spill so he could play with them inside.  I had completely forgotten about my promise but as we were leaving the mall Corey asked me if we were going to get the bubbles now.  Fortunately there is a Toys R Us next to Alderwood so Terence and Aunt Talia went in and got the boys some.  It doesn't take a lot to make Corey happy but these bubbles definitely did the trick! `

Snow!

Last week when all of Western Washington was getting snow we got our fair share in Sultan.  However yesterday I was surprised by how much snow we got.  It started snowing around 9:00am and did not stop almost the entire day.  We got almost four inches of accumulation (which has all melted away).  This morning before it melted I took the boys out to play in it.  Corey has been really sick so I did not let them play for long.  They had fun making their first snow angels and we made two thirds of a snowman before the boys decided it would be way more fun to knock it over then finish it.  I love the snow and wish we got more here in Washington. Maybe we will get one or two more storms before the winter is over.  That would be OK with us Keenans.

Aunt Talia

Terence's sister Talia came up to visit yesterday.  It was so fun to see her, it's been way too long.  We did not have a ton of time to hang out so we went and grabbed some lunch at Red Robin and headed out to the mall.  Talia just recently got engaged so we spent a lot of time talking about her wedding and the details of planning.  At the mall we spent some time shopping for makeup (Terence was thrilled) and in true Talia fashion we had to stop and get a Jamba Juice.  After the mall we came home and watched Say Yes to the Dress.  Talia rested a little bit because she had to pretty much turn right around and drive home.  It was really nice to see her but much too short of a visit.  Hopefully next time we can spend some more time together.  Oh, and Talia asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding which is a huge honor for me!  It also gives me some great motivation to lose weight before the wedding.  (by the way this is the only picture I took yesterday)

Late Birthday Present

We had Scott and Melissa over for dinner on Friday.  They have not seen Corey since before his birthday so they had a present for him (they are always so sweet about getting birthday and Christmas presents for the boys!).  Corey was super excited to have a birthday present to open over a month after his birthday (Connor was equally excited).  They got him an awesome Hot Wheels race track and some cars to go with it.  Melissa's birthday is on the 3rd of March so we had a mini birthday party for her as well.  Melissa loves anything Disney related so we did a Disney theme.  We had Disney plates and cups, Princess wrapping paper and we made Melissa wear Mini Mouse ears.  As usual we played Pinochle but this time we added our own little twist to the game.  It was fun spending the evening with them and the boys had a blast seeing Uncle Scott and Aunt Melissa.

Size 12!

Connor and his Daddy have something new in common.  They now both wear size 12 shoes!  Connor has a pair of Sketchers that my Mom bought for him a few months back that lit up and he absolutely loved them.  The only problem was they were getting too small.  So yesterday when we were out shopping I told him we could look for a new pair.  This was the first and only pair  he tried on, he LOVED them instantly.  He told me that another boy in his class had the same pair and that was pretty exciting to him.  He likes them so much that he has been wearing them pretty much non-stop.

They're coming!

I'll admit it.  My blogging has been pretty sub-par this year.  I have not been putting the effort into it that I should be.  So this weekend I am going to do lots of things and take lots of pictures and should some more exciting blogs coming soon  Check back Sunday for more!

Doh!

Tonight after dinner Corey and Connor laid down on the couch with me to watch some TV.  Terence also laid down.  Before I knew it everyone was sound asleep, dogs, Terence, Connor, Corey all out like a light.  We had all just eaten dinner and it was almost 6pm so I had a dilemma.  Do I let them sleep and hope they sleep through the night or do I wake them up and deal with grouchy, sleepy kids for an hour and a half.  Cory is has also been sick today and was running a fever so that only compounded the situation.  I decided I would risk it and put the boys to bed.  I managed to get them both upstairs and snuggled into bed by about 6:15.  Well, it is now 9:21 and guess who is watching Monsters, INC. on my laptop in my bed.  Oh that would be Connor and Corey and both are wide awake because they have had nice little naps.  This could be a long night!  I'm really hoping it snows all night so I can work from home tomorrow, I have a feeling we are going to be up for a while.

snow???

Where the heck are you?  I was really hoping you would be dumping on Sultan right now.  I would love to be able to have a work from home day with my family tomorrow.  When I look at the sky I see stars.  Come on SNOW!!  Start falling and fall all night long.  I would greatly appreciate it!

Monday

Nothing too exciting to report today.  I had my mid year review at work today and that went well.  Jared and Emily watched the boys for us since our daycare was closed for presidents day.  We really appreciated them doing that since it was hard to find anyone available.  We ended up having McDonald's for dinner because I did not even get home until 6:15 and that's just not enough time to cook dinner (especially when I really need to go to the grocery store).  The boys went to be pretty easily which was nice.  That was about it.  Kind of a low key day.  Now I'm going to bed.  Goodnight!

Saturday!

Yesterday was so beautiful we decided to go do something fun with the kids.  We were hanging out with my good friend Felicia and her two kids and ended up in North Bend.  We tried to take the kids shopping at the outlet mall but only successfully ended up going to one store before everyone got a little out of hand.  We decided it would be more fun to take the kids to the park for lunch.  We drove through McDonalds and headed out to the park. Don't let the beautiful weather fool you, it was FREEZING!  We let the kids play for about 45 minutes before we had to call it a day.  It was still nice to get outside for a bit and let the kids run around.  Makes me excited for summer!

You'll shoot your eye out

Tonight on the way home from work I had to stop at the grocery store to get some things for dinner.  I was letting the boys push little shopping carts around the store while I grabbed the groceries and put them in their carts.  Red Apple has a little rack of really cheap kids toys, something that if I were shopping alone I would not even look twice at.  Corey found a little cheap dart gun that he decided he could not live without so I got it.  I know, I spoil my kids, judge me.  Anyway once we were back in the car and driving home Connor asked Corey if he could see the gun.  Corey's reply without skipping a beat was "no Connor you'll shoot your eye out."  I'm still laughing about it.  It was so funny!

I'm always up for a challenge

Terence and I were talking last night and he said that there was no way I could beat him in a fitness challenge.  For example, I could not do more push ups in a minute then him.  Although that may currently be the case I know if I worked out hard enough I could get myself to a point where I could beat him.  So we are going to challenge each other to some kind of fitness test at the end of 2011.  Probably will be something like who can run a mile the fastest, most sit ups in a minute and most push ups in a minute.  No one tells me I can't do something.  Terence, you are going down!

so boring right now

I feel like I am so boring right now!  We have not really done anything fun in the last couple of weeks so I don't really have any good pictures to share.  Life is going pretty well right now...we can't complain.  Something exciting that is not our news but still fun to share is that Talia (Terence's sister) got engaged on Saturday!  Saturday just happened to be the 7 year anniversary of the day that Terence and I got engaged as well.  So now we have the same engagaversary.  Yes I just made up that word.  I have kept up with my goals so far this week.  I'm glad to be on track for those.  Anyway that's about all I have to say.  Like I said, kind of boring right now.

HDM1 Large Bad Guy

Tonight Connor found Terence's earphones and was playing with them.  He was running around pretending he was shooting bad guys and getting instructions through the headphones.  He kept saying "there's an HDM1 Large bad guy in the side room.  I'm going to take him down!"  It cracked me up!  I love hearing how his imagination works!  He is such a funny kid.

Setting some goals

Lately I have had a lot of things I want to do.  Every Sunday I go to bed saying I am going to do X, Y and Z this week.  The next Sunday rolls around and I have accomplished none of this.  Tonight I am writing it down so next Sunday instead of saying I should have done it I will be able to say I did it!  For this week I would like to

get to the gym/work out at least 4 days
read my scriptures everyday
cook dinner instead of buy it from a restaurant 6 days
get my Lapband tightened

I think that is a pretty good list of goals but it also allows me some room for error. We will see how it goes.  I will get these things done this week!

Catch up

Well, not really.  I am pretty behind on blogging this week.  I have been busy and to be honest have not really felt like blogging.  I will catch up at some point.  Some things that happened this week.

Connor had two more cavities filled
I bought and assembled (with the help of a good friend) some new dressers for my bedroom
we ate fast food for dinner almost every night this week (so gross!)
we did not go grocery shopping
my Mom had a birthday
we ran a ton of laundry
confirmed that we are not getting each other anything for valentines day (and we mean it)
we realized that it has already been a year since I had my first miscarriage (that went by incredibly fast!)
I signed up to bring food to Connor and Corey's Valentines day parties at school
realized I can't go to their parties because I will be in meetings all afternoon
Terence worked out 5 days this week (GO Terence!)
I made many phone calls to my Mom and sister
Terence saw a movie with his Dad
Corey told me I was his very best friend in the whole world.
he also told me I was pretty and nice
Connor told me he didn't love me anymore today on the way home
I don't think he meant it
we played at the park one of the sunny days this week, even though it was cold
stressed a lot
laughed a lot
did not sleep a lot
but did sleep better then we have the last few weeks

I am looking forward to relaxing this weekend.  Terence and I are planning on doing a bunch of projects tomorrow.  Hopefully we will get a lot done.

Today

Was busy!  But it was one of those days that even though I felt like I was going non stop I did not get that much done.  Well I take that back Connor got two more fillings done today, he is now done!  I went and finally got the tires fixed on my car so I don't have to buy air everyday.  At work I moved offices so I now sit closer to my boss so I had to get moved into my new office.  I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get catering ordered and conference booked last minute for one of my bosses.  Talked to my sister a couple of times.  Planned a birthday lunch for my Mom with my siblings.  I had to leave work by four because my kids had been at daycare for 8 hours by that time so I had to go get them.  I desperately need to go grocery shopping but have not had time to in weeks!  I am hoping to get that done tomorrow.  I ran some laundry, picked up dinner(I know, so bad)!  Spent a little quality time with Terence and the boys and now I am sitting in my bed watching Corey fall asleep in the doorway to his room. I actually slept for a solid 7 hours last night, hoping we can have a repeat tonight.

So Proud!

Terence had his review at work yesterday and he did awesome!  I would never expect anything less from him because Terence always give 110% to everything he does.  He was given some amazing feedback!  Pretty awesome considering the fact that he has only been with the company for 6 months.  Nowhere to go but up from here.  I am SO proud of him!  Just wanted the rest of you to know.

Sand in the Eyes

The other day as I was driving to pick the kids up from school I got a call from the director of  the daycare saying that Connor had been involved in an "altercation".  This made me super nervous because if your kid is the one who is causing the problems or hurting other kids they can get kicked out of the daycare.  It turns out that Connor and another boy were playing with some shovels int he sandbox and apparently they started fighting about the shovels it escalated and the other boy threw sand in Connors face.  When I got there Connor had four teachers tending to him in the office and a wet paper towel over his eyes.  When I looked at his eyes they had a lot of sand in them and were pretty red.  Naturally Connor was pretty upset and it took every once of willpower I had not to ask who the other kid involved was and give him a piece of my mind (not that they would have told me anyway).  It is hard as a parent letting go of that control and knowing that things are going to happen to your child that you cannot help or fix.  I know that at the end of the day Connor's eyes were fine and there was no permanent damage.  I guess it's all part of growing up for both Connor and me.

Dentist part two

Both Connor and Terence had dentist appointments yesterday to get some cavities filled.  Terence's appointment went well, nothing to report.  Connor also had a good appointment.  He sat so still while they worked on his teeth and the laughing gas mad him super giggly which I thought was so funny.  Going to the dentist for a little boy is nothing like I remember, he got to watch a movie, he wore sunglasses, and he had special orange scented gas.  After he was all done he got to go get a smoothie from Jamba Juice.  I think he had a fun day (until the numbing medicine wore off :).

Reptile Zoo

The other day I we were driving home from Monroe and on a whim I decided to stop at the Reptile Zoo.  We pass this place everyday at least twice a day and have never gone in.  There is really not much to see, just a bunch of reptiles in cages but the kids LOVED it.  They ran from cage to cage asking me what the animals were, telling me how big they were it was fun to see.  None of my pictures turned out really well but I thought I would share them none the less since it's a memory I want to remember.

Next time I'm just going to buy the pull ups!

Both of our boys are potty trained and do really well at staying dry and accident free during the day.  Bedtime is a different story so we put our boys to bed in pull ups.  Last night we did not get home until late because we were at my brother's house celebrating his birthday and when we went to get the kids ready for bed we realized we were out of pull ups.  I swear I had two more but they disappeared.  Anyway, neither Terence or I wanted to go to the store to buy more so we figured we would just put the boys to bed in underwear and come what may.  Connor, I am proud to report, stayed dry all night!  A small victory and that is one less pull up every night that we need to use.  Corey was a very different story.  Every hour on the hour he had an accident.  I went through every clean sheet I have in the house and most of his clean pajamas.  I was up basically all night cleaning him up, stripping his bed, changing sheets, getting him back to sleep and then I would fall asleep for about 20 minutes before it would start all over again.  All of this because Terence and I were too lazy to drive the 15 minutes to the store for some silly pull ups.  As the title of this blog states, next time I am just going to buy the pull ups.
