Tyson at 8 weeks

This is something I have said every week since Tyson was born but I will say it again.  It's going so fast!!  He's gone from a newborn to a little baby this week.  He's starting to have longer periods of being awake and he like watching his Dad and brothers wrestle.  We have cut out supplementing for the most part and Tyson has only had two, 2ounce bottles in the last week.  I'm proud of myself for sticking with nursing even when it was hard and I was worried he was not getting enough food.  I feel like we have turned the corner and will be able to make it to the one year mark as recommended by our pediatrician.

Some other facts about Tyson this week.
  • His brothers ADORE him and want to hug and kiss him all the time, even when I would prefer they didnt.
  • He smiles in his sleep a lot and is a noisy sleeper
  • He is on his second cold in eight weeks and has a really stuffy nose and goopy eyes.  He also has a cough
  • He is starting to like baths a lot
  • His eyes are starting to change color and they have gone from steel gray to a dark blue.  I think he will end up with brown eyes like his Daddy and brothers.
  • He eats a lot when he is awake but will sleep for 3-4 hours at a time.

KJL

This is my Mom.  She is beautiful, strong, smart, funny, happy, kind, talented, amazing, adventurous, hard working, devoted, loving...I could go on and on.  I can safely say that pretty much everything I know and am can in some way be traced back to her.  I don't know that I tell her enough but I would not be the person I am without her.  My mom has gotten me through some tough times and also been there for all of the most important events in my life (except for maybe a high school choir concert or two, those she did not attend :).  I love her more then anything and I hope that I can be half the women she is some day.

Happy Birthday Mom!  Hope it's a great one!

7 Weeks

Tyson is seven weeks old today.  I know I said it last week and will probably say it every week but it's going way to fast!  I feel like Tyson has gained some weight this week.  I am not sure exactly what he weighs but I'm guessing he is getting close to 9 pounds.  We are still supplementing with formula and that seems to be the right recipe for him.  Another really fun development this week is that he has started smiling and cooing!  I absolutely love sitting with him and watching his face light up.  He adores Terence and one of his favorite spots is cuddled up on T's chest.  It's almost a guarantee that he will fall asleep in that position.  He is starting to be awake more often and seems to be getting into a pattern of eating and sleeping.  I have actually been getting some sleep at night as well although it's still hard for Terence to sleep where Tyson is so we spend a lot of time trading off between our bed and the couch.  Hopefully he will start sleeping longer periods through the night soon.

Things you never thought you would have to do

Shovel snow from a trampoline.  But that's exactly what we had to do after all the days of snow because it was getting too heavy and we were afraid our mat was going to rip.  I'm glad Terence is a trooper.  We actually ended up shoveling snow back onto the trampoline the next day because it got really windy and we were afraid the wind would upend the thing again.  Ironic.

Silly Boys

Anytime I have the camera out my older boys ask me to take pictures of them.  Here are a couple from the other night.  I love how much they are starting to look alike.

One Month Pictures

My sister sent me these amazing stickers that mark the months from 1-12 so you can take pictures and see how your baby grows from month to month.  I took these a little late so he's actually one month and a couple days in these pictures.  I'm amazed at how red his hair looks.  He gets that from Terence.  I could not get him to look at the camera once so you get a lot of profile views.  I still think they are cute!

Mini Van

Well we did it.  We finally made the jump from sedans to a min van.  We knew it was going to have to happen eventually.  Three boys in the back of an Altima is a tight squeeze.  I know a few guys in the car business so when Terence and I decided to buy we knew who to go to.  By the way if you ever need a new car go to Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Renton and ask for Adrian or Mario!  Anyway I went down and test drove a few cars and landed on a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan.  In my family growing up Dodges or really any American made car were a no no but I talked to my trusted mechanic also know and my Dad and he said this would be a pretty good car for us.  It's not the fanciest car in the world, no automatic doors but it has all the basic bells and whistles.  I can tell you honestly that having this car has been a life changer!  I don't dread going places.  It's so easy to get the boys in and out.  We can buy groceries and actually have room to haul them home.  I know it's just a silly mini van but I love it!  I guess I have officially crossed into soccer mom territory.

I will post pictures once I wash it.  It's dirty from all the sand on the roads from the snow storm a few weeks ago.

Six Weeks Old!

How time flies when you are having fun.  Or maybe that should be when you are so busy that you don't realize how quickly it's passing.  That would sum up the last six weeks for me.  I feel like it's going too fast.  I want to hang on to every second of Tyson being a baby because I know once it's gone it's gone forever.  So maybe my house is not as clean as I planned on it being and maybe we have not had as many hot home cooked meals as I would like.  I have however spent lots of time cuddling Tyson while he sleeps and talking to him and singing.  I have loved every second of it.  I don't want it to end.
Some little tidbits about Tyson-
  • he's about 8lbs 5ounces now (we don't have a scale so we weighed him on a food scale)
  • he has started smiling
  • he likes to suck on his fingers if he can find them
  • he has been sleeping really well the last couple of nights
  • he goes down about 11 wakes up at 3:00 to eat and sleeps until 5 when Terence wakes up
  • he sleeps in a cradle next to our bed
  • he loves being swaddled
  • his hair is turning reddish
  • Connor and Corey both adore him
Here is a picture of him from today.  I took some one month pictures of him but I have to get those off the camera first.
