Six Months!

Tyson is six months old today!  I am amazed at how fast the time has gone.  Just this last week he has really started to change a lot.  He is still such a sweet, mello, smiley little guy.  He still adores his Daddy and his brothers.  He is content to just kind of sit back and watch the world go by.  He likes looking at himself in the mirror right now.  He is just a really fun baby!  Some highlights
  • this week he learned to roll over and to scoot himself
  • he can only scoot himself backwards right now
  • he can push himself up onto his hands
  • he has started testing solid foods
  • he likes these rice rusks that we get him called Mum-Mums
  • he is not crazy about mushy food like bananas
  • he is really starting to enjoy his toys and likes chewing on them
  • he is a thumb chewer
  • he is chatty but not overly loud.  If you get him going he will "talk" to you but mostly he is content observing
  • he still sleeps in our bed
  • he is still almost exclusivly nursing (he has the occasional bottle at the gym)
  • we cut his hair this month.  With our older two boys we waited until they were a year old.
  • he is growing out of his six month clothes quickly and moving into nine month
  • last time we weighed him he was 18 pounds
  • his eyes are still blue, I'm not sure how long that will last
  • he is not afraid of other people yet but he prefers Terence and me
  • his hair is reddish/brown/blonde
  • he has really big feet!
I could not be more thrilled to have Tyson.  I think being a little older and a little more mature makes a big difference with having an infant.  I am less concerned about the house being perfect and the little things that take time away from me enjoying him.  The time goes so fast!  I just want to take it all in!

It Doesn't Take Much

Tonight I was laying on the couch trying to get Tyson to sleep.  I was singing primary songs to him quietly while T was watching some videos on the computer with his earphones in.  I did not think he could hear me but after a few minutes he pulled his ear bud out and looked at me.  I asked him if he could hear me and he said yes.  I apologized because I did not want to bother him.  He put his ear phones back in and about a minute later he turned to me and said that he liked my singing and that it was nice.  I know that may not seem like much but to me that was a really sweet compliment.  It even brought tears to my eyes (don't tell him that ;)  Now as I type this he is in our boys room talking to them and trying to get them to go to sleep.  He is such a good Daddy!  I'm very grateful for him and all he does for our family.

Little Man on the Go!

Tyson is on the move!  Last night he figured out to roll from his back to his tummy (he could go from his tummy to his back before that) and he decided he was going to start scooting.  He has not quite figured out the mechanics of moving forward yet but he can move backwards.  It's actually really cute to watch.  Terence was laying on the floor and Tyson was trying really hard to get to him but he kept pushing himself the wrong way.  It was funny to watch.  I have a feeling he is going to be crawling before too long.  Which means it's time to baby proof the house!

Surprise!

Terence turns 30 tomorrow!  I wanted to do something really fun for him this year so I planned a surprise party/softball game with a bunch of our friends.  We did the party down at a park near our house.  We had a great turn out and I think Terence was surprised.  We sang happy birthday to him with a piece of cake because he was out on the sports field and people wanted cake.  When we were done singing and had taken the candles out of the cake I tried to smash the piece of cake into his face.  That may have backfired a bit as I was the one who ended up with cake all over me.  Someday I will learn my lesson.  All in all it was a super fun day with family and friends.

Connor at T-Ball

Well, tball was kind of a flop this year.  Corey hated it and we took him out after two weeks of practice.  Connor said he wanted to keep going so we left him in.  After three or four games he was done too.  He was not having any fun, he did not like playing in the games and overall he was bored.  This made going to the games like pulling teeth for Terence and I.  We basically had to walk him through everything.  Terence is a great coach and when he was able to be there with Connor he liked it more but overall I think he was just a bit too young.  We will try again in a year or so.  Even though he did not love he still looked cute playing.

Hair Cut

Tyson was starting to look pretty scrubby!  His hair was getting pretty long and people were starting to call him a girl.  I absolutely love my babies hair and we have not cut their hair until they were a year old at the earliest.  This is what Tyson's hair looked like the day he was born.
I love his hair!  Have I mentioned that?  Anyway more recently he was starting to look like this...
Terence said he was starting to look like Albert Einstein.  His hair was getting so long that I could not even keep it under control when I combed it.  My friends and family were telling us we needed to cut it.  This morning while we were getting ready for church I asked T if we should get the clippers out and cut it off.  He said yes so while I still had the nerve I cut it!  I would be lying if I said I didn't cry a little.  However the end result was pretty darn cute!  I think it makes him look older.

Brothers!

This morning I was holding Tyson on the couch and Corey came over and asked if he could hold him.  Corey absolutely LOVES Tyson and helping me take care of him.  I took a couple of pictures of the two of them together and got this one.  I love it!  I have awesome little boys!

Girls Night Out

Last night I went out with a big group of my friends to dinner and a movie.  Don't get me wrong, I really love spending time with my family and given the option dates with Terence are my favorite.  It's not always possible to find a sitter and arrange all the other logistics of a date night.  So getting out with the girlfriends is a good substitute.  We went to Thai food in Monroe, told lots of stories, laughed a lot and just enjoyed spending time together.  After dinner we went and saw Snow White and the Huntsman.  It was a really good movie.  Not what I expected at all.  It has a Lord of the Rings feel to it which I kind of enjoyed.  I stayed out way past bedtime and I'm paying for it a little today but it was a fun night.

Great Start!

Ha!  I'm totally off to a great start.  Here I am making this grand proclamation that I am going to blog everyday and I miss the first day.  So here it is a day late.  Yesterday I swam a mile!  It was not non stop but it was all within an hour.  I was at the pool with a good friend and made a goal to do 20 laps without stopping and then just kept going.  I am debating whether or not to do a triathlon in August and I'm trying to gauge my fitness level to see if I could finish within the 4 hours allotted.  At this point I am leaning towards yes.  I know I can do the run, I can bike the 12 miles and I can do the swim.  The real question and what I need to practice is doing all three in order.  Also there is the small matter of not having a bike but hopefully I could rectify that situation.  Anyone want to do it with me?

It's time to get back on the wagon

and that means I need to start blogging again.  I feel like there are so many things that I should be recording but I'm not.  I am the type of person where if I write something down I am far more likely to do it.  So I am making a goal to blog everyday for the rest of 2012 and add pictures to those blogs.  It may not be the most exciting thing to read for everyone else but I know I will be grateful for the record.
