This morning Corey and I woke up at 4:30am and headed out to the hospital. Corey had to get tubes put in his ears. Corey has been getting a lot of ear infections over the last few months and our doctor was concerned that it was due to enlarged adenoids. We are hoping that the tubes in his ears will clear up the infections and help Corey talk and hear better. The surgery it’s self was a very easy procedure but as a Mom I was still very nervous about it. I did not like the idea of them taking my two year old back to surgery without knowing where he was going. The doctors were so nice and actually let me be the one to take him back. I put on some awesome booties, a hairnet and hospital gown and carried him back to surgery. Then I lay him on the table and held his hand while they put the mask over his face and stayed until he was asleep. It was reassuring to me to know that he was OK and that he would not remember me not being there. After the surgery was done they brought me back to a recovery room and we sat together for about 45 minutes until he was awake enough to go home. Once we got home both Corey and I took a nice long nap and now it is as if nothing happened. Corey is upstairs getting into trouble with his brother as usual. Our doctor said Corey had a lot of fluid behind his ear drums so it was good that we got the procedure. I’m glad that we did it and relieved that he should start sleeping, talking and hearing better within the next couple of days.
