That Water is How Cold???

Count on my husband to take a sucker bet. Since Sunday afternoon was so gorgeous we got together with some friends at the park for a picnic. The kids all ran around like crazy while the adults hung out chatting. Terence and Felicia also got a little one on one basketball in. Once we were all finished eating and had loaded all the food back into the car we went for a walk down to the river. The kids loved standing on the banks and throwing rocks into the water, it’s amazing how long rock throwing can entertain them. The adults on the other hand were up for a little friendly competition. We all rolled up our pants and waded out into the FREEZING cold water to see who could stand it the longest. The Shearins were there with us and Mike lasted for probably a minute tops before he had to get out. Jared was next out saying something about how crazy all of us were before he retreated to the bank. So there it was Terence, Felicia and I all up to our knees in glacier water determined not to move. After about 5 minutes of this we were numb and probably could have stayed in the water indefinitely or until our feet fell off. Instead we decided to call a truce and all walk out at the same time.

As we were getting ready to head back to the cars someone started egging Terence on about going all the way in. Jared put up $50 originally but when he saw how willing Terence was to do it he backed it down to 20, Mike put in an additional 10 bucks and it was on. Terence had to get in the water waste deep, above his belly button and stay there for 3 minutes. It took him a good five minutes to get all the way into the water and once he was there he shivered like crazy but he did it! I could not help but be proud and think he was crazy all at the same time. Now we are just waiting for everyone to pay up!  By the way, when I mention this water was cold we are talking snow melt right off the mountain cold.

You are catching up! I was worried I was going to have to hack into your blog and start blogging for you before you got too far behind! Are you all caught up now? I loved all these post. We had a pretty fun weekend and it was sooo much fun to watch JR play with his cousins. It's true, he really does love being with them. Also... I love Benji Boodle. Its going to stick.

Not all the adults joined in. I personally am not crazy enough and Nate didn't seem interested and either did Jeannine. Just the rest of you crazy heads!
