When I was a little girl going out on a Daddy daughter date was a big deal and something I always looked forward to. I specifically remember one birthday (I must have been turning 6 or 7 because I remember we were still living in the duplex on 148th street in Los Alamos) my dad took me out. I remember being so excited because he was going to come all the way from work to pick me up. I remember waiting on the front porch for him to get there for what felt like an eternity. I very clearly remember that he bought me red carnations for my birthday. We went out to lunch at a restaurant in Los Alamos (I cannot remember the name but for some reason I feel like it was a hotel). I remember that we ordered French Dip sandwiches and we had sautéed mushrooms. It was a great birthday present and I remember feeling so lucky to get some one on one time with my Dad.
Yesterday my Dad emailed me out of the blue and asked if I wanted to go to lunch with him today. My Dad works in Everett and I work in Redmond so going to lunch is not something we can typically do however, my Dad has every other Friday off of work so in this case it worked out. When I got the email I was super excited, I got that same feeling I had when I was little. So today we went out to lunch together at PF Changs in Bellevue. The conversation is a little different these days. We talked about work, kids, church and politics. We shared some Orange Peel Chicken and some Kung Pao Chicken. My dad ate some crazy hot chilies and tried to tell me they were good so I tried one and set my mouth on fire. It was really great to spend some one on one time with my Dad and just sit and talk. I appreciate the time more then he knows.

Aww! That's really special. I'm glad you got that same feeling when you went out today.
It makes me miss my daddy.
*on a side note....today's WV is "relatese" (is that when your being teased by your relatives?)
(I really want to play Balderdash now)
What a wonderful dad we have! I'm glad you got to have some fun solo time with him! He really is awesome. PF Changs orange chicken on the other hand, is the worst. I recommend lettuce wraps and nothing else.
Tried PF Changs this last weekend and I was SO not impressed. So overrated.
Now the Chinese place in Redmond Ridge....AWESOME!!! Dan and I crave it every day and I haven't been like that since Canadian Chinese food.
WV is urinnedi.....that's a Urine Jedi Master.
That Los Alamos thing with the red carnations?? Totally never happened.
Ha ha! Dad had a great time and he thought the food was good.
