One Week Check Up

On Friday I took Tyson to his one week check up.  I was optimistic that the doctor would tell me that he was gaining weight well, his jaundice was gone and that he looked great.  Unfortunately that is not the news I got.  Between Ty's 72 hour check up and his one week check up he had not gained any weight and his jaundice count had gone up.  Needless to say I was pretty disappointed and felt somewhat discouraged.  I have never had a baby who was not at birth weight or above by his one week check up.  My pediatrician gave me a plan that I have to supplement each feeding with an ounce of extra milk and I need to feed him every 2 hours around the clock.  In addition to that Tyson is on quarantine.  He is not allowed around anyone else until he gains a little weight.  My doctor even went to the extent that he said our older two boys are not allowed to touch Tyson and if they touch something he is wearing like his hat our outfit it has to go right in the wash.
So that has been the routine since Friday, feed, pump, change, repeat.  The good news is I think it's working.  Tyson seems to be eating better and he has been more alert the last day or so.  We have a follow up appointment with our Doctor on Tuesday to see if he is gaining weight.  My older two boys have been going a little stir crazy being cooped up in the house for the last three days but hopefully after Tuesday the restrictions will not be so strict.  Until then we will continue the routine.
On a side note Tyson is the sweetest baby ever!  He has a very sweet temperament and is really calm and easy going.  He loves Terence and I and is still trying to figure out what to make of his two older brothers.  I think he would sleep 23.5 hours a day if we let him but he does not mind being woken up to eat.  The only thing he does not like is getting his diaper changed.

This picture was taken before the doctor said it was off limits

Tyson, you can tell from this picture he is a little jaundiced
