Jetty Island

Today was the first day of my "staycation".  A bunch of people from my ward decided to go out to Jetty Island in Everett for the opening day of their summer season.  I have never been before but it's really fun!  You take a very short ferry ride from the parking lot over to the island and then take a short walk to the other side of the island where they have a long sandy beach. The tide was really low today so the kids went and played on the mud flats while the adults sat around and chatted.  The weather was relatively nice when we got there, partly cloudy and warm but as the day wore on the weather deteriorated.  It started getting windy and raining. The way the ferry works out on Jetty Island is that you pick up a ticket on either side for a trip.  We had picked up tickets for a return ride of 3:15 and all the earlier tickets were taken so we were stuck on the island until then.  So we tried to make the best of it.  We put our rain coats on, covered the children and enjoyed.  We were talking about the fact that this was just one of those things that if you don't do it in the rain you may not get a chance to do it at all.  The kids did not seem to mind the rain at all as they really enjoyed playing on in the mud and getting soaking wet. It was really a fun time and I am looking forward to going back.  Next time I am out that way I will be sure to schedule lunch with Grandpa because his factory (as Connor calls it) is literally right around the corner from the ferry dock.
