The other day as I was driving to pick the kids up from school I got a call from the director of the daycare saying that Connor had been involved in an "altercation". This made me super nervous because if your kid is the one who is causing the problems or hurting other kids they can get kicked out of the daycare. It turns out that Connor and another boy were playing with some shovels int he sandbox and apparently they started fighting about the shovels it escalated and the other boy threw sand in Connors face. When I got there Connor had four teachers tending to him in the office and a wet paper towel over his eyes. When I looked at his eyes they had a lot of sand in them and were pretty red. Naturally Connor was pretty upset and it took every once of willpower I had not to ask who the other kid involved was and give him a piece of my mind (not that they would have told me anyway). It is hard as a parent letting go of that control and knowing that things are going to happen to your child that you cannot help or fix. I know that at the end of the day Connor's eyes were fine and there was no permanent damage. I guess it's all part of growing up for both Connor and me.
