Boating

My parents have had a boat for years!  Some of my very favorite memories of being a kid were going out on this boat with all of the cousins and spending the entire day swimming and water skiing.  It was a blast!  For years the boat sat in storage waiting for someone to use it again.  This year Jared and my Dad decided that they should fix it up and take it out to go fishing.  Terence, Dad and Jared have gone out on it three times now and have had a blast!  Today they invited the boys and me to come out after they were done fishing to take the boys for a ride.  We met them out and Idlewood Park and got on. Before we could even leave the boys had broken out the hamburger buns and were feeding the ducks.  I was amazed with how quickly the swarmed the boat.  As we were leaving the shore they followed us for a good ways looking for more bread.

Once we were out on the water Grandpa let both boys take a turn driving the boat.  Connor was a little bit timid and Corey steered us in circles or directly towards the shore.  They both loved driving though.

After we had cruised around for a bit we let broke out the bread again and fed the seagulls.  When we were younger we used to go out on Lake Washington with the entire family and feed the seagulls popcorn and within minutes we would have swarms of seagulls in the water.  Today we only got about 10 but it was still fun to see them fly in from nowhere to see what we were throwing in the water.  I'm still amazed how they can find the bread from the shore.  We ran out of bread and Jared and Terence ended up feeding bananas to them (I'm sure there is some inappropriate joke you could come up with for a seagull eating a banana).  It was a super fun little adventure to take the boys on and I hope we get to do it again soon!
